美剧中经常用add to cart 表示加入购物车

比如，极品老妈 第六季 Mom Season 6的台词

在写作上其实add to 可以有加剧的意思，

譬如：

人工智能的发展加剧了人们对于未来工作前景的担忧：

Advances in artificial intelligence add to workers’ anxietyabout job prospects.

（add to 一般不用被动形式；add to的宾语通常是某种感觉(feeling)或特征(quality)）

下文add to 的用法选自The Economist《经济学人》

a.Concern 做中心词，that引导同位语从句时，对concern进行解释说明，即具体是什么担忧。concern引导同位语时，也可以是可数名词，即本句改为concerns that...也是可以的。

这句话缩减一下即为concern added to the panic.

如果想要表示恶化，不好的情况或问题加剧了，我们可以用aggravate/exacerbate 这两个词

给出以下两例句：a.His illness was aggravated by anxiety.

b.His headache was aggravated /exacerbated by the noise.

2.缺乏，缺少

a dearth of

一般来说我们平常表达缺少常用lack 这个词，比如以下的例句：

再者，我们会想到scarcity，shortage这些关于短缺的词，这里注意一下scarcity常常侧重于描述自然资源的短缺不足，

譬如：

The finiteness of natural resources determines its scarcity.

自然资源的有限性决定了资源的稀缺性。

理论上来说，动物肉类食物的缺乏本可能导致了日本历史上的脑血管死亡。

3.强迫A经历B ,迫使A接触B

be subjected to……

在之前有一篇文章中我给大家说过be subject/susceptible/vulnerable/open to 有易受……的影响的意思，今天讲的 be subjected to……可以认为是subject A to B,给出如下例句，请读者自行体会。

They subject their children to abuse.他们虐待儿童。

换成被动那不就是their children are subjected to abuse.

to 后面一般来说多为不好方面的事情，但其实也可以是法规，审核等，再比如：

The vehicle will be subjected to a rigorous safety inspection.

将对车辆进行严格的安全检查。

4.A比B要好

Acompare favourably/well with B

Acompare withB 表示A可以与B媲美（rival）

，A与B的程度一样好。+了一个favourably即可表示与B相比A更好！

例句：they continue to compare favourably with fossil fuels.

他们继续优于化石燃料。

那么如果想要表达，劣于，其实只要改成unfavourably 即可。

在网上找到一张图方便你理解。

其实compare with 在比较中也是经常使用的，所以希望读者不要总是单一的使用than进行表达，要学会换词。
